My heart is empty, the pain almost intolerable.  Today I lost a friend, a dear friend who I truly loved.  I had, at least, the opportunity to express that I was so sorry for the pain I have caused.

The sobbing as I left for the last time was excruciating and will haunt me forever.

I know or hope that the pain will lessen a little each day, and that someday it will be limited to those occasional reminders.
